About the Role:
The role of an experienced Lead Automation Engineer to spearhead the design, development, and implementation of comprehensive automation solutions for SaaS products. This role requires a developer leader who can architect scalable automation frameworks while managing a team of engineers to deliver robust, self-service provisioning capabilities.
What You’ll Do:
- Drive the automation strategy and architecture for multi-tenant SaaS environments.
- Define and enforce automation standards, governance, security, and compliance.
- Build Infrastructure-as-Code solutions (Terraform) and architect Azure-based systems.
- Design CI/CD pipelines and develop automation using Python, Go, or PowerShell.
- Lead end-to-end tenant provisioning and application/database configuration automation.
- Develop APIs, auto-scaling solutions, and automated disaster-recovery workflows.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, KPIs, and performance optimization for automation systems.
- Collaborate with DevOps, Platform Engineering, Product, Security, and Operations teams.
- Lead and mentor automation engineers, providing technical direction and career growth.
- Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and operational efficiency across SaaS delivery.
What You Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years in automation/DevOps/platform engineering, with 1+ years leading technical teams
- Deep expertise in AWS & Azure, provisioning APIs, and cloud cost optimization
- Strong IaC skills with Terraform, Ansible, and modular template design
- Proficiency in Python/Go with experience building automation frameworks and API integrations
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Rundeck, Azure DevOps)
- Solid knowledge of multi-tenant SaaS, microservices, and automated SQL/NoSQL provisioning
- Strong understanding of API design (REST/GraphQL), gateways, and data-security isolation requirements
- Familiarity with Azure Foundry and AI/RAG-based application patterns
- Proven leadership in cross-functional initiatives with strong Agile (Jira), documentation (Confluence), and stakeholder-management skills

- Azure certifications (Solutions Architect/DevOps Engineer Expert, AI Engineer and AZ-104)
- HashiCorp Terraform Associate/Professional certification
- Kubernetes certifications (CKA or CKAD)
- CI/CD certification such as GitHub Actions Certified
- Docker Certified Associate on Containerization
- Security certifications such as CISSP or CISM
- Advanced certifications: Vault Associate, CSM/PMP, ITIL Foundation, Red Hat Ansible Specialist
- Hands-on GitOps experience (ArgoCD, Flux CD, Jenkins X)
- Expertise with monitoring & secrets management (Prometheus, Grafana, Vault, Azure Key Vault)
- Industry exposure to SaaS, compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR), and regulated sectors (finance/healthcare), including startup-to-enterprise scaling
